About RSS

The RSS format can syndicate news and content from news-like sites. In fact, pretty much any content that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS.

Once information about an item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to them in an appropriate way.

RSS-aware programs are known as news aggregators, and are very popular with the weblogging community. A news aggregator can help you keep up with all your headlines from vnunet.com by checking the relevant RSS feeds and displaying new items from each of them.

By creating the RSS files on VNU's web server your aggregators will be able to read the RSS files and to collect data about VNU's content. These aggregators place the site information into a larger database and use it to allow for structured searches of a large number of content providers.
